I hesitated to rent this because the marriage-w/o-love tag made me worried that Gillian would take Maks back despite how he dumped her, and while that sadly is the case, to her credit she did at least put up a decent fight and refused him for a while. But she's still the self-effacing, self-sacrificing woe-is-me type I'm thoroughly sick of. Never sacrifice your own happiness for the sake of someone who wouldn't do the same for you! Maks is so self-absorbed he doesn't even understand why Gillian doesn't immediately jump back into his arms once he finds out she's pregnant and genuinely believes things will go right back to how they used to be. He's another "my parents weren't in love so I don't believe it exists" clich辿 lazy writers use to try to justify and excuse any and all a-hole behaviour, which works even less here because Gillian's parents didn't even love HER yet she's not a jerk! The only decent person is the queen who hijacks the plot to sort out the leads' bs since they won't.
