Ohhh my Goood, this story had me smiling like a fool the entire time I was reading it! It's so cheesy at times it gives me secondhand embarrassment, in a good way. Every. Single. Character. Is just so damn likeable. The entire story is wholesome happiness with just a touch of angst in the middle that gets resolved without being unnecessarily drawn out, and as far as I'm concerned no loose ends are left. The last couple bits of closure are reached in the last couple chapters, so I suspect that's why it feels a little rushed according to other readers. I don't necessarily disagree with them about that but the whole of the story is just so good to me that I can overlook it, easily.I wouldn't say there's no smut, it's just that sex isn't the focal point of the characters' relationship. Much more emphasis on communication, unwavering devotion, and refreshingly supportive side characters. For anyone wanting a super wholesome, fluffy, and yet surprisingly mature yaoi, I 100% recommend!

This was a really interesting idea for a gender-bend story, and I love how Aoi's sister and Akira were also prominent characters that got their own development--wouldn't hesitate to read a spin-off of them if it exists or will exist in the future. The ONLY reason I dropped a star was because, like another reviewer said, the leads got a whopping three pages dedicated to making love with Aoi in his true, male body. And considering how Aoi being a man was the primary reason for all of his insecurities and the reason the drama lasted as long as it did, it honestly started really frustrating me around 9, 10 chapters in that all of the sex scenes so far had Aoi in his female body. Kudos to the author for acknowledging that in the last chapter, but 3 pages of an easily 200+ page story where we finally see Touya truly accept Aoi's male body just doesn't cut it for me. Still a cute story with a happy ending, but I would love a sequel where we get more of the love-making with a male Aoi.

I actually liked this story so much that I downloaded it directly to my tablet so I can reread it anytime even without WiFi. So this is a spin-off of a book called "It Started With a Goodbye." That book came out on Renta!, mmm, maybe a few months ago, I'm not exactly sure (I honestly forgot about it until I read this one and saw it was a spin-off) and I gained a new appreciation for this author's works after reading this and rereading the first one. They pull at your heartstrings and it's honestly a somewhat unique premise with really pretty art and just the right amount of intrigue, angst, and sweetness. If you want to read both books, consider when you prefer to have the backstory, because the other book doesn't explain a whole lot. If you read this one first, you'll understand the premise so the first book makes more sense to you. If you read "It Started With a Goodbye" first, you might be left with quite a few questions, but this book will answer them for you.

WAIT GUYS GIVE THIS BOOK A CHANCE THERE'S A SPIN-OFF THAT EXPLAINS THIS BOOK'S PREMISE IN MORE DETAIL.Hopefully I kept some of you from giving up on this book right away with that CAPS-lock. First thing I'll say: the reviews before me aren't exactly wrong. This book doesn't explain a whole lot about Kei's kind.BUT!!!The spin-off of this one just became available on Renta! today (Dec 2020), and it explains SO MUCH, about that story AND about this one, too, and boy did this whole premise pull at my heartstrings once it all tied together. I really recommend you try this one as a rental and read the spin off "Goodbye, See Ya" so it all makes sense to you, then upgrade to permanent if you like the combined universe this author's spun together!
